Conversation: Finding a Third Way

join the conversation

I have invited coach, podcaster, and spiritual sociologist Brandon Cook to share some fresh perspectives on the dualism that holds our world and our souls often stuck in either/or thinking. Our particular inquiry is, Could there be a contemplative path that allows us to soften our polarities in a season of elevated strife and anger?

The Wisdom Tradition would say, Yes! But it is counter-intuitive.

I will begin by introducing Brandon to you, and then he and I will have a conversational presentation on this topic followed by your participation for group conversation.

Some questions we are exploring…

  • Why does the world seem so much more divided (and divisive) now than it used to be?

  • What is anger designed for? What is its appropriate and inappropriate uses?

  • How does fundamentalism (whether conservative or progressive) affect public discourse?

  • What would a Third Way look like or feel like?

  • How might the present disruption in our social fabric point toward a larger, more hopeful cultural narrative?
